Dr. In Young Lee, DMD
Hello! I’m Dr. In Young Lee, one of your Midtown dentists at Rockefeller Cosmetic Dentistry. Originally from South Korea, I moved to the United States at the age of 13 and am subsequently fluent in both English and Korean. While spending my teen years in Leonia, New Jersey, I began my dental career in high school by working as a dental assistant in the local orthodontist’s office.
From there, I continued my dental education in an accelerated 7-year program at Rutgers Dental School’s Joint Degree Program for BA/DMD, which is only offered to highly qualified candidates.
I completed my DMD on the Dean’s List before going on to complete my post-doctorate General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center, where I primary focused my skills in comprehensive and general dentistry.
I have since worked in upstate New York and NYC and have participated in multiple continuing education courses to continue to further my knowledge and expertise. Currently, I’m participating in the NYU Surgical and Prosthetic Implantology program, one of the most comprehensive implantology courses in the nation, to obtain my ICOI certification. I’m thrilled to be part of this program, which requires 400 total hours of didactic and clinical education over the course of an intensive two-year commitment.
As a certified Invisalign provider, I am dedicated to providing a comprehensive and gentle, conservative approach to dentistry. I firmly believe in preventative care as well as prioritizing patients’ education on good oral health practices. I also believe in giving back to the world at large and have participated in programs that provide dental care to military veterans and medically compromised patients and dental education to children as well as being part of oral cancer awareness campaigns across the Northeast.
Outside of the office, you’re rarely find me without my sketchbook as I enjoy a diversity of art in my daily life as well as hiking. But most of all I love my Netflix Sundays!
I love my job. I love all the little gadgets I use, how “pretty” a filling can be, and how beautifully artistic a porcelain tooth can be, but I know that a beautiful result is not everything that this job is about.
During my first job, I was looking outside the window waiting for my patient. Then, I saw a patient walking towards the office. She didn’t come into the office immediately, however. She had to stop herself, take a deep breath to relax, and only after then, she had the courage to turn the knob.
Although she was not my patient, I will never forget that picture from my mind. It was in that moment that I realized that what I do is extremely personal and emotional. From then on, I’ve sincerely appreciated the trust my patients have in me, and smiles that they give me each time when they walk through the operatory door. This is my favorite part of my job – the people I meet and being able to provide them with the best service, so they can smile and laugh with confidence and enjoy a delicious meal with their family.
At the end of the day, it’s not about teeth. It’s about everyday wellness.
I have to say: I thank you for your trust.
